The Apple TV streaming box from Apple features pin-sharp 4K resolution including HDR (High Dynamic Range) according to the HDR10 and Dolby Vision standards for a wider color spectrum and higher contrasts. The 4K Apple TV shows your favorite films and series with even more impressive details and more lifelike picture quality. Externally, the box is almost identical to the previous model. The ventilation slots on the underside are new. Nevertheless, the streaming client offers other benefits in addition to the features mentioned above.

Apple TV 4K connections, revised hardware
Even if Apple, as usual, reveals little about the inner workings of its products: The 4K version of the Apple TV comes with even more powerful hardware. Apple has installed an A10X fusion chip in its 4K box to process the 4K images and equipped the streaming client with 3 gigabytes of RAM and a new graphics chip. Apple still does not have a separate audio output in the new 4K version. The power connector, HDMI output, and Gigabit Ethernet port remain on the Apple TV 4K. The latter now also supports the dual-band standard simultaneously over 2.4 and 5 gigahertz, provided your WLAN router transmits its signals via the 802.11ac standard.

Setting up and operating the 4K streaming box from Apple
As soon as you have connected the 4K version of the Apple TV to your 4K television, the intuitive and uncomplicated setup known from the previous model takes place. Practical: You can now transfer many of the settings (WLAN access code, for example) directly from your iPhone.
